Littleborough
TLD37 · United Kingdom
A small mill town in Greater Manchester where the South Pennines meet the Rochdale Canal, Littleborough has a stone-built town centre designated as a Conservation Area and sits beside Hollingworth Lake, originally built as a feeder reservoir for the canal. The town grew around two ancient Pennine crossing routes — one possibly Roman — and later industrialised through textile mills and coal mining. Today it functions as a commuter town with recreational access to the surrounding upland countryside.
