Lubin is a city in Lower Silesia, south-western Poland, whose medieval origins as a cloth and linen centre were transformed by the 1957 discovery of Europe's largest copper ore deposits. Today it is home to KGHM Polska Miedź, one of the world's leading copper and silver producers, and sits within the broader Copper Belt alongside Legnica, Głogów, and Polkowice. The city has a walkable centre with cafés and restaurants, Gothic and Baroque landmarks, and free public transport.
