Maasi, a village on the eastern part of Saaremaa Island in Estonia, is home to a medieval Order castle — Maasi Castle — which served as the administrative centre for Muhu and eastern Saaremaa during the Middle Ages. The waters of the Väike väin Strait nearby yielded one of Estonia's oldest known shipwrecks, the Maasi vessel, discovered in 1985 just off the castle's outer anchorage.
