Maranguape

City in Ceará just southwest of Fortaleza, Maranguape sits close to the highest peaks in the area, which rise to nearly 1,000 metres behind the city. Founded in 1851, it is part of the Fortaleza metropolitan area and has produced several notable figures, including historian João Capistrano de Abreu and comedian Chico Anysio.
