Minerve, a tiny hamlet in the Hérault that gives its name to the Minervois wine region, draws well over 300,000 visitors a year to its dramatic gorges, natural stone bridge, and limestone plateau. Listed among the Plus beaux villages de France, it sits at the confluence of the Cesse and Brian rivers, within the Haut-Languedoc regional nature park, and carries a dark historical weight as the site of the first burning of the Albigensian Crusade. A handful of cafés and restaurants serve the village.
