Mogaung

Myanmar (Burma)

Mogaung, a town in Kachin State in northern Myanmar, was once the capital of Shan princes and is now widely associated with jade — it is among the country's leading centres for the trade in jade gemstones, particularly prized by Chinese buyers. The town sits on the Mandalay–Myitkyina railway line, within sight of mountains and close to water, and lies a short distance from the state capital Myitkyina.
