Founded in 1256 as a military bastide town on a strategic north-south route, Monflanquin is a little village in Lot-et-Garonne, south-western France, that changed hands several times during the Hundred Years' War. It holds membership in the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France association and supports a small but real café and restaurant scene for a settlement of its size.
