Mosonmagyaróvár
Győr-Moson-Sopron · Hungary
This walkable town in northwestern Hungary, close to the Austrian and Slovak borders, with a centre full of cafés, restaurants, and historic churches. Formed in 1939 from two older settlements — Moson, which once stood on the Danube and served as the original capital of Moson County, and Magyaróvár, which later took over that role — the town is home to the Hansági Museum and a memorial to Archduke Frederick of Austria, who lived here after 1918 and died here in 1934.
