Nyborg
Denmark
Nyborg, on the eastern tip of Funen, is a Danish town on the Great Belt with a walkable waterfront centre and a good spread of cafés and restaurants. Its centrepiece is Nyborg Castle, described as the oldest royal fortress in the Nordic countries, dating to 1170. The town's 12th-century church, Nyborg Vor Frue Kirke, and Denmark's oldest open-air theatre, Nyborg Voldspil, add to a compact historic core connected to Zealand via the Great Belt Bridge.
