Oc Eo, in An Giang Province of southern Vietnam's Mekong Delta, is an archaeological site that was once a major port of the Funan kingdom between the 2nd century BC and the 12th century AD — and may be the port recorded by ancient Greek and Roman geographers as Cattigara. First excavated in 1944 by French archaeologist Louis Malleret, the site has given its name to an entire regional archaeological culture defined by the artifacts recovered here.
