Oudtshoorn

South Africa

Known as the ostrich capital of the world, Oudtshoorn is the largest town in the Klein Karoo region of South Africa's Western Cape, set between the Swartberg and Outeniqua mountain ranges. Ostrich farming remains central to the local economy, and several working ostrich show farms are open to visitors. The town also hosts the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival, the most significant cultural festival of the Afrikaans-speaking community in South Africa, and sits close to the Cango Caves.
