Planina

Planina, a village in Slovenia's mountain country, sits at the edge of Planinsko polje beside the River Unica, which emerges here from one of the country's longest cave systems. Planinska jama — entered beneath a cliff face in a blind valley — is where the underground rivers Pivka and Rak meet in one of the largest subterranean river confluences in Europe. The wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites, and the village has several historic churches for its size.
