Puerto Chacabuco sits at the head of Aisén Fjord in Chilean Patagonia, serving as the main port of the Aysén Region and a departure point for vessels heading to Laguna San Rafael National Park. A Navimag ferry connects it to Puerto Montt to the north. The compact port village supports fish and shellfish processing alongside growing ecotourism and sport fishing. Its name traces to the corvette Chacabuco, which explored these fjords and archipelagoes in the 1870s.
