Salers
Cantal · France
Salers, a tiny village in the Cantal department of south-central France, is the origin of both the Salers breed of cattle and the AOC-protected Salers cheese — as well as lending its name to the wider Cantal cheese appellation. A member of the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France association, it sits among scenic upland surroundings and supports a little but real café and restaurant scene for a settlement of its size.
