Shaykh Miskin
Syria
This town in the Hauran plain of southern Syria's Daraa Governorate, Shaykh Miskin sits at a road junction connecting Damascus, As-Suwayda, and Quneitra to the south of the country, with the old international highway passing through it. The town is also linked to the Caesar Act — the US sanctions legislation named after a local man who smuggled tens of thousands of photographs documenting deaths under torture in Syrian government prisons to international courts.
