Skövde

Sweden

Walkable town in central southern Sweden with a café-filled centre, Skövde sits between the country's two largest lakes, Vänern and Vättern, on the eastern slope of the low ridge Billingen. The Western Main Railway arrived in the 1850s and drove a period of rapid industrial growth; today the town serves as a regional hub for Västra Götaland. The surrounding landscape offers views toward the ridge and easy access to the lakelands on either side.
