A compact town in the southern Gard, within the Nîmes agglomeration, set in Mediterranean wine-growing country with vineyards in the surrounding area. The centre has cafés and restaurants, and the commune is drained by the Vieux Vistre river. A Roman milestone, classified as a historic monument in 1912, survives in the town, and the wider territory falls within the Natura 2000 protected area of the Costières Nîmoises.
