Victoria West
Victoria · Canada
Victoria West — known locally as Vic West — is a historic neighbourhood of Victoria, British Columbia, just across the harbour from downtown, with a walkable waterfront path along Songhees Point offering views back toward the city. The area carries a layered history: it was the site of a Songhees village before industrial development in the early 20th century, and later home to as many as seven shipbuilding companies. The 1896 Point Ellice Bridge collapse, which killed 55 people, remains the worst transit accident in Canadian history.
