Vyshhorod
Ukraine
First mentioned in chronicles as early as 946 CE as the town of Princess Olga, Vyshhorod sits on the western bank of the Dnieper river immediately north of Kyiv, with a walkable centre and waterfront access alongside the Kyiv Reservoir. The 11th-century burial site of Boris and Gleb, the first saints of Kievan Rus, gives the town a deep historical layer, while the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant marks its modern industrial identity.
