Yanping

This mountain township in Taitung County, Taiwan, where the Bunun people are the main community and nearly all of the land sits within the Central Mountain Range. Yanping is known in Taiwan for the 1968 Hongye Little League baseball team, from the township's Hongye Village, which defeated a Japanese all-star youth team and is credited with launching Taiwan's golden era of youth baseball. Agriculture — corn, millet, rice, plums, and pineapple — remains the economic backbone.
