Alingsas
Sweden
Known as "Kaféstaden" — the Café Town — Alingsås is a Swedish town in Västra Götaland with a walkable centre packed with around two dozen cafés. It also carries the nickname "Potatisstaden" (Potato Town) as the home of Jonas Alströmer, the 18th-century figure credited with popularising the potato in Sweden, a legacy celebrated each year with a potato festival. The town sits alongside the lakes Mjörn and Gerdsken and is crossed by the river Säveån.
