This small Welsh village in Montgomeryshire, Powys, sitting at the confluence of the Afon Rhiw and the Montgomeryshire Canal near the River Severn. Its 19th-century church, dedicated to Saint Beuno who is said by tradition to have been born here, served as a religious centre for the cantref of Cedewain in the Middle Ages. Nearby Rhyd Chwima was a strategic Severn crossing used for negotiations between the Prince of Wales and the King of England in the 13th century, and the 1797 Pentre Llifior Chapel is among the earliest Wesleyan buildings in Wales.
