Chieti
Chieti · Italy
This ancient Abruzzo town sits between the Pescara and Alento rivers, within sight of the Gran Sasso and Majella mountains and a short distance from the Adriatic coast. Its hilltop historic centre is heritage-dense and walkable, with a strong café scene and a concentration of historic churches. Chieti also gave its name to the Theatines, a Catholic religious order, and holds two archaeological museums covering its long history as a Roman municipality and principal city of the Marrucini people.
