Kleinmond
South Africa
Small coastal town in South Africa's Western Cape, Kleinmond sits within a UNESCO-declared biosphere on the Overberg coast between Betty's Bay and Hermanus, at the mouth of the Bot River lagoon. Its compact centre has cafés and restaurants, and the surrounding mountains and shoreline are within easy reach on foot. The town's Afrikaans name means "small mouth," a reference to its lagoon setting, and stone axe heads found nearby point to human presence in the area going back some 20,000 years.
