Llanfair Caereinion
TLL41 · United Kingdom
Llanfair Caereinion, a little market town in Montgomeryshire, Powys, sits on the River Banwy in the Welsh hills and serves as the western terminus of the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, the feature that draws most visitors to the town. Built on the site of an old Roman fort, it was also the most important centre of the medieval cantref of Caereinion, and local tradition traces the founding of that territory to Einion Yrth, a son of Cunedda, in the mid-5th century.
