This highland plateau on Lantau Island known for the Tian Tan Buddha — a roughly 34-metre bronze statue — and the adjacent Po Lin Monastery, Ngong Ping is reached by the Ngong Ping 360 cable car from Tung Chung. Lantau Peak, Hong Kong's second-highest summit, rises to the southeast. The area also includes Ngong Ping Village, a youth hostel near the monastery, and several walking trails through the surrounding hills.
