Nuneaton
TLG13 · United Kingdom
Nuneaton, the largest town in Warwickshire, is best known as the birthplace and early home of the novelist George Eliot, born on the nearby Arbury Estate in 1819 and commemorated by a statue in the town centre. The River Anker runs through it, and the skyline is marked by Mount Judd, a spoil heap from the town's coal-mining past. Much of the centre was rebuilt after heavy Second World War bombing.
