Ogre
Vidzeme · Latvia
Sitting at the confluence of the Daugava and Ogre rivers east of Riga, this Latvian town has drawn visitors since the 1860s, when it developed as a health resort for the capital's residents arriving by rail. The centre has cafés and restaurants within walking distance, and the surrounding pinewood landscape shaped the town's identity enough to appear on its coat of arms. A German-soldier cemetery from the First and Second World Wars also stands here.
