Rauma
Satakunta · Finland
Rauma's Old Town, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1991, is one of the few surviving medieval town layouts in Finland, preserved in a dense cluster of wooden buildings along the Gulf of Bothnia. The Church of the Holy Cross, a Franciscan monastery church inaugurated in 1512, anchors the area and contains medieval paintings. The Kirsti and Marela houses, both now museums, document the town's seafaring and shipowning past. The centre is walkable, with cafés and restaurants along the main streets and around the town square.
