A railway junction town in southern Finland, roughly an hour north of Helsinki by train, Riihimäki is home to the Glass Museum, housed in the former factory of Riihimäen Lasi. The town also produces Sako rifles and has been a garrison town since the era of Finnish autonomy. A compact centre holds cafés and restaurants, and the surrounding area offers scenic countryside.
