Summerhill
Ireland
Summerhill, a village in County Meath, was once home to one of Ireland's most celebrated Georgian mansions. Built in 1731 and likely designed by Sir Edward Lovett Pearce — with Richard Cassels completing the work — the 100-roomed Palladian house served as the ancestral seat of the Viscounts and Barons Langford. Its loss has been described by the Irish Georgian Society as probably the greatest tragedy in the history of Irish domestic architecture.
