Ventry
Ireland
This tiny Gaeltacht hamlet on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, Ventry sits between a long sandy beach and mountain terrain, with the Irish Sea on one side and high ground rising behind. Its Irish name, Fionntrá, means "white beach," and the strand is the main draw. Once the most important harbour on the peninsula, the village lies a short distance west of Dingle on the R559 tourist route.
