Known across Lebanon as "the City of Wine and Poetry," Zahle is a city in the Beqaa Valley of eastern Lebanon, sitting at the junction of Mount Lebanon and the valley floor at high elevation. Its riverside restaurants and cafés draw visitors from across the region, and the city has a long reputation for its arak and pleasant mountain climate. Established in the 18th century as a predominantly Greek Catholic settlement, it remains the capital of Beqaa Governorate.
