Carlingford

A tiny village on the southern shore of Carlingford Lough, with Slieve Foy mountain rising behind it, that holds a surprising number of options for its size for cafés and restaurants. Carlingford retains its medieval street layout, with narrow lanes, a surviving town gate known as the Tholsel, and a 16th-century building called the Carlingford Mint still standing on Tholsel Street. The wider region has UNESCO World Heritage connections, and the lough and mountain terrain offer scenic viewpoints close to the village.
