Lapinlahti
Finland
The Halonen artistic dynasty traces its roots to this small town in Finland's North Savonia region, and Lapinlahti has embraced that heritage by making art its civic theme — the village church area alone holds dozens of art sites. Finland's first art foundry, the Halonen Art Foundry, operated here, casting works including the Three Smiths statue and the equestrian statue of Marshal Mannerheim. The municipality also sits among some 229 lakes, the largest being Lake Onkivesi.
