Pielavesi
Finland
Pielavesi, a pocket-sized municipality in Finland's North Savonia region, is best known as the birthplace of Urho Kekkonen, who served as Finland's president for nearly 26 years — and his childhood home, Lepikon torppa, still stands here. The municipality is largely forested and lake-scattered, with the lake of the same name covering well over a hundred square kilometres. A summer food festival centred on vendace (muikku) draws visitors seasonally.
