Robertson

South Africa

A wine-country town in South Africa's Western Cape, Robertson sits in the fertile Robertson Valley along Route 62 and is known as the valley of wine and roses. Founded in 1853 and named after a Scottish Dutch Reformed Church minister, the town built its early economy on farming and wagon building before turning to ostrich farming and, eventually, wine, fruit, and racehorse stud farms — the agricultural mix that still defines it today.
