Susice
Czechia
A compact town in the Šumava foothills of the Plzeň Region, Sušice sits on the Otava River with two scenic lookout towers on the hills to the west, a well-preserved historic centre protected as an urban monument zone, and a café and restaurant scene that punches above its size. The town was founded in 1273 by Přemysl Otakar II and grew prosperous through gold panning and the medieval Salt Road trade route. It was later home to the SOLO match factory, once world-famous, which closed in 2008.
